Naoki Nabeshima

Naoki Nabeshima (Ph.D., Ryukoku University, 1986) is Associate Professor of Shin Buddhist Studies at Ryukoku University and a lecturer at Kyoto Women’s University. His research focuses on Pure Land Buddhist thought in China and Japan, in particular Shin Buddhism, founded by Shinran (1173-1262), and its relevance on issues such as spiritual approaches to end-of-life care and care for the elderly. 

The Bioethics of Interdependence: Shin Buddhist Attitudes on Human Cloning

During the 1998-1999 academic year, as a visiting scholar, at the Graduate Theological Union and the University of California, Berkeley, he studied biomedical ethics, and Christian and Buddhist thought and practice.
