Ayub Khan Ommaya

Dr. Ommaya is Professor of Neurosurgery at George Washington University since 1975. Dr. Ommaya was educated at King Edward Medical College Lahore, Pakistan, and Balliol College, Oxford, England, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. Dr. Ommaya is also the Director of the Center for Integrative Brain Research, Bethesda, MD, and Vice President & Director of Research, Cyborgan Inc. He is, in addition, a member of the Advisory Committee for Injury Control, Centers for Disease Control. Inventor of the "Ommaya Reservoir,” prototype of all medical ports now in use, Dr. Ommaya is a pioneer scientist in the understanding of biomechanics of neural trauma and development of the centripetal theory of brain injuries and traumatic unconsciousness. In 1995, Dr. Ommaya was the keynote speaker at the meeting of the Committee on Science and Technology (COMSTECH) of the Organization of Islamic Conference. He chose the topic “Requirements of the Renaissance of Science and Technology in the Islamic Policy.” He lectures frequently on reform, science, and politics in the Islamic world.
