James Robl

James Robl, Ph.D., received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois in 1983 and conducted post-doctoral research at the University of Wisconsin from 1983 to 1985.  He then was a professor at the University of Massachusetts for 15 years.  Dr. Robl is now the president and chief scientific officer for Hematech, one of several biotechnology companies he co-founded.  Dr. Robl’s research has focused on mammalian cloning and genetic modification.  He developed the procedure that is used today for cloning in cattle, and other species, and his laboratory was the first to produce calves from genetically modified somatic cells
