Anglican priest and writer, most famous for his childrens book The Water-Babies (1863), a book informed by his enthusiasm for the idea of evolution. Kingsley did much to try and reconcile the new scientific knowledge of the 19th Century, especially Darwinism, with Christian doctrine.
